The route is 11.2 km long and crosses the villages of Colonno, Sala Comacina, Ossuccio, Lenno, Mezzegra, Tremezzo and Griante.
The walk starts in Colonno: at the south entrance of the town, along the Strada Statale Regina 340, follow the sign Greenway of Lake Como going up Via Cappella until you reach the starting point where Via Luigi Civetta begins.
It can be walked entirely in about 3 and a half hours, or at times, choosing to walk only part of it.
You can easily get there by car following the Strada statale 340 Regina or through the “Linea ASF C10 (Como-Menaggio-Colico)” whose stop is a few steps from the starting point, Via Luigi Civetta.
You can park your car along Via Cappella, Colonno.
On Saturdays, Sundays and holidays the parking is on payment: cost € 5,00 for the whole day.
The payment is to be made at the operator in the small wooden house at the beginning of Via Cappella (during the year 2021 parking meters will be installed).
The Greenway of Lake Como takes place partly along the route of the ancient Via Regina, partly on coastal pedestrian stretches alternative to the main road. Along the route there are alternating stretches of paved road, tracks and cobbled steps.
– on foot by walking backwards;
– by boat: the boats of “Navigazione Lago di Como” stop in Colonno, Sala Comacina, Campo, Lenno, Tremezzo, Villa Carlotta;
– by bus: ASF Line C10 (Como-Menaggio-Colico).
The Greenway of Lake Como is an itinerary suitable for everyone, including children and families. It is not possible to use the pram because of the presence along the route of steps, cobbled road and not easy with a pram. In the case of small children, we recommend the use of a baby backpack.
It is not advisable to cycle along the Greenway, there are uphill stretches, narrow cobbled streets, steps.
It is not possible to walk along the Greenway with the wheelchair as the route often has cobbled sections and steps.

You can stop for a picnic with a view of Isola Comacina at the Ossuccio Municipal Park where there is also a bar.
In Lenno just beyond the Lavedo Hotel there is a green area set up for picnics. From here you can take a detour to the magnificent Villa del Balbianello or continue along the Greenway to Lido di Lenno.
Finally, continuing up to Tremezzo, there is the Teresio Olivelli Civic Park: in the park there is a bar open all year round (currently under renovation), large green space, benches and you can enjoy a splendid lake view.

In case of works in progress along the route that force the visitor to make detours, appropriate signs will be placed on site. However, it is possible to know in advance if there will be detours by visiting the dedicated page.
